Sonodore battery powered pre-amplifier MPB-502 for: RCM-402, CCM-65, BLM-21 and LDM-54

2 Channel Microphone Pre-Amplifier / Battery Powered / combined microphone power supply.
The Sonodore pre-amplifier MPB-502 is especially designed for the Sonodore microphones,
but is also suitable for retrofitted microphones with active power.
The pre-amplifier is 'unbalanced' to avoid the negative effects (different kinds of distortion) that
occur in balanced circuits. It is built with the latest developments
in improved sound quality such as:
Mundorf silver/oil and silver mica capacitors, siltech mono crystal wiring and special metalfilm
resistors. This results in a very high sound quality.
The gain is set by switches: very precise adjusting of the gain instead of the normal potentiometer.
The batteries are of the modern and light weight rechargeable LI-ION types.
The MPB-502 has a recording time of about 30 hours and a build in charger.
Active powered microphones don't need an additional power supply: the MPB-502 delivers the power.

Batteries and sound quality of components

It is a well known and documented fact, that battery powered audio equipment 
(separated from the main voltage) sounds substantially better. There are several plausible reasons for
this. Apart from getting rid of the pollution on the main power, also the absence of interfering ground
currents adds to the improvement also. 
The sonic improvements due to battery powering are: 

  • more softness in the high frequencies
  • more robustness in the low frequencies
  • a much more relaxed projection of the sound images
  • less noise artifacts
  • faster reaction time
  • an overall much more realistic and pleasant sound
     

The MPB-502 is available in 2 versions:
1) Input 6 pin XLR  (+15V -15V and capsule voltage)
Intended for a good microphone and pre-amplifier combination.
Advantages compared to the 4 pin XLR:
Lower price, longer operating time.

2) Input 4 pin XLR (+60V).
Intended for customers who has microphones with a mains power supply and a 4 pin XLR.
